HTEESEKHA Waterfall, the most accessible and well-known waterfall in Loikaw Township, Kayah State, is drawing increasing numbers of visitors from near and far who come to see its unspoiled beauty.
Visitors to the magnificent waterfall have significantly increased from last year because of its beautiful landscapes and natural attractions, according to tour operators.
Situated in Hteesekha Village in Loilinlay Village-tract, near the Shan-Kayah border seven miles from Loikaw Town, Kayah State and about 90 miles from Taunggyi, the capital of Shan State, the Hteesekha Waterfall is a natural wonder surrounded by lush green forest.
Swimming is possible in the clear, clean and cool stream.
Police carry out security checks around the waterfall area regularly for safety of visitors.
Pagodas and a Buddhist monastery are located near the waterfall have similarly drawn increasing numbers of devotees and merit makers, especially during religious events.
The waterfall dates back many decades, but remained undiscovered until Saigyilon from Hteesekha Village came across the stunning scene in the summer of 2001.
The waterfall then began to be known as a nice place to camp in the summer, with natural caves nearby that can be explored.
The emergence of stupas, related religious structures, rest houses, restaurants and ornament shops have since increased.
