SAVE Inle Lake, the Inle farmer agricultural
and development community, said it
is working to establish a floating garden
in Inlay Lake, a popular freshwater lake
in Nyaungshwe Township, Shan State.
With the aim of promoting the region’s
tourism sector and agriculture industry,
the two-acre garden will be developed in a
designated area near Inlay Ngapechaung
Village with the use of eco-friendly floating
agriculture technology, a member of the
The project will start at the end of
May with plans to cultivate strawberries
and other crops.
Travellers and local growers will be
allowed to observe the garden after completion
of the project.
Inle Lake is famous
for its beautiful landscapes and culture and
lifestyle of Intha people, who grow fruits
and vegetables in floating farms.
A wide variety of fish and snail species
have been found in the lake, which also
hosts rare migratory birds.
