The 17th Southeast Asian Championship will be held in Vientiane, Laos from June 11 to 16.
“We plan to select the contestants for the Laos tournament in April. We will inform contestants about the selection details this month and the federation plans to give opportunities to new contestants for Laos,” MBPSF Joint Secretary U Kyaw Sein Than told the Myanmar Times.
The MBPSF held the Union Day Memorial Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Tournament at the MCC Hall in Yangon on February 9 and 24 and contestants from the events have been shortlisted for the Laos competition.
The February event featured 10 categories and Aung Nay Myo Oo emerged champion in the Under-21 bodybuilding category while Myo Khaing won in the 60kg category.
Maung Maung Myint also bagged the championship in the 70kg class while Aung Khaing Win won the 80kg contest and overall champion of the tournament. In Men’s Sport Physique, Shine Htet Aung won while Ko Ko Kyaw Phyo grabbed first prize in Men’s Athletic Physique class, Sithu Hein took first place in the Men’s Fitness Physique category.
In the women’s categories, Wut Ye Hnin won the Women’s Model Physique class while Win Thawdar Aung took the Women’s Fitness Physique title.
Although former Southeast Asian contestants can participate, former World and Asian Championships contestants will not be allowed to compete in the final selection for Laos.
