Delicacy made of Sticky Rice

Myanmar people have tradition of making food of base on the month of a year. Hta Ma Nare is one of the special food representing month TaPound (February). To make this dish you will need at least 2 people working in great balance. That why Myanmar people say unity can bring to people when they make this food together.


Glutin rice - 2 can
Ginger - 80 g
Penut - 80 g
Sesame - 80 g
Fried coconut - 80 g
Salt - a little
Oil - 240 g
The following is the instruction of how to cook step by step in English
  1. Soak gluten rice in water overnight and filter it next day. It helps to save time in cooking.
  2. Prepare oil for deep-fry.
  3. When oil starts to bubble, put gingers in and fry them.
  4. When gingers start to wilt, add gluten rice and stir. Put a little bit of salt in and keep stirring.
  5. Add water until it reaches 1 cm above the surface of grains. Its purpose is to soften the rice.
  6. When water is vaporised and gluten rice becomes soft, apply pressure on the rice by pressing with two spatulas. So, the grains are gently crushed and more sticky.
  7. Add peanuts and stir.
  8. Add sesame and stir.
  9. Finally, add fried coconut and stir thoroughly.
This meal has a custom where Buddhists in Myanmar serve it to Buddha before they eat.
