Pickled Myanmar Vermicelli

Myanmar vermicelli salad is one of a common snack usually eat in Myanmar. This strong taste snack becomes a girl fan snack for very long time. Pickled Myanmar vermicelli is easy to make and occasionally very happy to make it together with family or friends.


Myanmar rice noodle - some
Onion - some
Potato - some
Fish sauce - some
Cooked oil - some
Sun dried prawn chips - some
Peanut powder - some
Tamarind paste - some
Coriander - some
Chilli powder - some
Green chilli - a few
The following is the instruction of how to cook step by step in English
  1. Boil potatoes and peel them.
  2. To prepare tamarind paste, rinse tamarinds with hot water to get the dirt off. Dissolve tamarinds in hot water for a few minutes. Crush tamarinds by hand when they are soft enough and squeeze them for the paste.
  3. Crush green chilli and pour the hot water on them for the mixture. The mixture must not be thick.
  4. Slice onions and rinse them. Rinse corianders and cut them into 1 inch long pieces.
  5. For one serve, put small amount of onions, 2 teaspoons of cooked oil, noodles, dried prawn flakes, a little bit of fish sauce, 1 teaspoon of peanut powder and 2 teaspoons of tamarind paste into the bowl. You may add chilli powder for spice. Also Crush the well boiled potatoes and add them with corianders. Then mix everything thoroughly.
  6. Based on your taste, you may add more of fish sauce and chicken powder. Finally, top it with fried onions.
  7. For those who like to have it flaming spicy, use green chilli mixture instead of chilli powder.
