Plum Soup with Fried Spicy and Salted Fish Curry (Rakhine Curry)

There are many races who live different parts of Myanmar. Yakhine race, live western part of Myanmar, have very special way of cooking and they are professional in making fish dishes. Plum soup and spicy fried salted fish curry is companion dish famous in Yakhine.


Ripe plum - 25
Fish - 1
Preserved fish paste - 1/2 teaspoon
Chicken Powder - 2 teaspoon
Salt - 1 teaspoon
Water - 1 Liter
The following is the instruction of how to cook step by step in English
  1. Rinse plums and boil them in 1 litre of water. After that, crush plums using a spoon and take the seeds out.
  2. Rinse fish and marinate it with salt. Grill it until it is well cooked. Separate the bones from meat.
  3. Add fish, preserved fish paste and chicken powder into the pot of boiling plums and cook everything together until the soup starts boiling.
  4. Check the taste and you may add either salt or chicken powder to improve it.or chicken powder and serve it after garnishing it with coriander.
