Spicy and sour fish curry (Mon Style)

This week, I would like to introduce with Spicy and sour Mon traditional fish curry. This curry is well known among Mon traditional curry. Curry without oil can give you better taste and good for health also. If you have a chance, let have a try.


Fish - 650 g
Onion - 1 pcs
Lemon Grass - 1 pcs
Green chili - 15 pcs
Fish Paste - 1 table spoons
Pickle or Dried marian - 10pcs (to taste)
Saw-Leaf Herbs - 2 pcs (chopped)
Salt - 1 tea spoon (to taste)
Seasoning Powder - 1 table spoons (chicken powder or dashi powder)
Turmeric powder - 1/2 table spoon
Water - 1/2 Cup
The following is the instruction of how to cook step by step in English
  1. Remove head, fins and tail and clean thoroughly. Cut 2 pieces one by one and set aside.
  2. Pound onion, chilies and dried marian together. Smash well lemon grass and make ready fish paste watery.
  3. Take a cooking pan and put fish, pounded onion mixture, lemon grass, fish paste, turmeric powder and seasoning powder together and mix them thoroughly. And then add half cup of water, cap the pan and cook with medium head.
  4. When the curry start boil, slightly shake the pan. Please do not stirs with spoon to avoid the fish crashes into pieces. If the curry boil continuously, taste the curry and add salt and seasoning powder as needed.
  5. And then put chopped Saw-Leaf Herbs to make aromatise. Finally transfer to serving dish and ready to eat together with family.
