Thousands of people wearing white shirts staged a protest march against the child sexual abuse at Wisdom Hill private nursery school in the capital city, Nay Pyi Taw on June 6.
They marched from Kyauktawgyi Pagoda to the CID office in Insein Township in Yangon.
The protestors protested holding vinyl posters that read “Justice for Victoria”, “We Want Justice”, and “Create a safe environment.”
A protest leader said: “We want the truth and justice. The second is we want relevant departments, organizations and responsible persons to create a better environment for children. We want to create a safe environment that can protect children from the sexual abuse as well as from the psychological and physical abuse. The last point is to avoid the occurrence of similar case.”
More than 100 youths also staged a protest march in Taunggyi in Shan State on the same day, calling for uncovering the truth and handing down the death penalty for the child rape cases.
