Some tourists visit to Mon State “Kawk Goon Cave,” 28 mile afar from Mawlamyine Township where there are plentiful ancient earthen and marble images, said Tourist Guide.
“Inner wall ceiling, entry hall wall of Kawk Goon Cave there stood thousands of 7 AD art earthern and marble images. Some tourists visit Kawk Goon purposely and some visit after getting suggestions when they arrive Myanmar,” said a Tourist Guide.
The cave Kawk Goon is located at Kawk Goon village, Paan Township and it is the type of natural limestone. The cave is 116 ft high above sea level on the west of Than Lwin river.
Cultural heritage proofs such as earthen-baked art, marble-curved Buddha stupas, embossed sculpture on limestone, Buddha marble images worked on sand-rock, painted letters, ink-letters, and ancient Mon Race language letters were found. These cultural heritage art was seen since 13 AD end of Bagan Era. Travel record proof concerned with Kawk Goon Cave was found in the record early 19 Century.
The Cave has been conserved by Ancient Research National Museum and Department of Library from the Department of Ministry of Culture, was heard.
