Spicy Fried Green Tamarind 

This dish is usually served together with main course. In Myanmar tradition course, there is no appetizer server before main course. Appetizer is served as a side dish in the main course. As it named, this dish is with strong taste in sour, hot and also hot.

Fresh tamarind fruid - 80 g
Dried crush chilli - 15 g
Oil - 160 g
Sun dried prawn - 1/4 teacup
Peanut - 1/4 teacup
Preserved fish paste - 1 teaspoon
Onion - 3
Garlic - 1
Green Chilli - 5

The following is the instruction of how to cook step by step in English


Fresh tamarind fruits must be rinsed and crushed.
Get dried prawn ready by crushing them after they were soften in hot water for a few minutes. Make the fish paste mixture by adding water.
Crush garlics, onions and peanuts.
Spray a little bit of water on dried crushed chilli.

  1. Heat the pan and let oil boils. Then add crushed onions and garlics.
  2. When onions turn into slightly reddish colour, add tamarind and dried crushed chilli, and stir
  3. Add fish paste mixture and salt soon after
  4. Put dried prawns and crushed peanuts at last
stir thoroughly and later mix it with green chilli
