Spicy and Sour Small Fish with Drumstick-shaped Fruit Curry 

Spicy and sour small fish with drumstick-shaped fruit curry not general dish for Myanmar family. Strong taste is added to cook this curry to match with the fish.

Small fish (Ngar Pyat) - 480 g
Fruit (Kyat Paung) - 10
Onion - 2
Green chilli - 10 to 15
Coriander - a few
Tumeric - a few
Salt - a few
Preserved fish paste - a few
Oil - 2 tablespoon

The following is the instruction of how to cook step by step in English
  1. Mix the fish with salt thoroughly and rinse it. Chop the heads and the tails off. It is optional to cut the belly open to clean it. Make sure you rinse the fish properly after the internal organs are taken off. Then, marinate it with turmeric, salt and chicken powder.
  2. Pound onions and green chilli together for the paste.
  3. Heat the oil and panfry the paste. When the onions in the paste become tender, add preserved fish paste. When the aroma starts rising, put and fry the fish.
  4. When the fish is fairly cooked, add pounded drumstick-shaped fruit and water to the level that is just a bit above the fish.
  5. When it is boiling, check whether or not both fish and fruits are cooked. If they are cooked, it is ready to be served after garnishing with coriander on top.
