Sticky Rice with Coconut 

In Mon tradition (one of the race in Myanmar), Mon people make a special sticky rice with Coconut snack. At the Waso fullmoon festival (July), Mon people make this snack and give it to neighbors. You can see this lovely tradition of Mon till now.

Sticky rice powder - 2 cup
Water -
Coconut - 1
Suger - 160 g
Salt - 1 teaspoon
Banana leaf - 1
Coconut Milk - 1 tablespoon

The following is the instruction of how to cook step by step in English
  1. For dough, add small amount of water at a time to sticky rice powder while mixing. Add water until dough is slightly hardened. If the dough can be easily shaped into the spheres, water doesn't have to be added anymore. If the dough is very floppy and not staying in shape, then add a bit more water. Ferment the dough for 1 hr.
  2. Shred coconut into thin pieces. Make the coconut sweet as complement to sticky rice. Heat the pan and add coconut, salt and sugar. Stir them after that.
  3. Stir until sugar turns into liquid. When that liquid is dried, it becomes the coconut sweet.
  4. Boil banana leaves to prevent them from breaking down when we pack the sticky rice using them. When they are soften, take them out from hot water and let them cool down. Then wipe the wet leaves with the dry cloth.
  5. Shape the dough into small rounded pieces.
  6. Take one bowl and make the jam by adding oil into coconut milk.
  7. Tale a piece of dough and flatten it. Top it with the coconut sweet and gently squeeze the entire dough for the round shape. Place it into the jam.
  8. Follow the pictures and fold a banana leaf into the cone shape. Place a ball of sticky rice and close it. When all the pieces of sticky rice are packed, put them into steamer pot that has an insert with holes.
  9. Steam them at high flame level for 30 minutes.
  10. Finally, here we go, the appetizing sticky rice is ready.
